The scope of the game is reaching a certain score before the opponents.
To reach this goal, you can follow two game strategies:
• Realize the biggest number of possible melds, collecting as many points as you can.
• Trying to close as soon as possible, so to get the closing bonus and letting the opponents collect less points than they might expect.
It is a very important point, and much neglected.
A good Buraco player knows (depending on her/his cards and the opponents' situation) which is the best strategy.
The obvious ideal would be finding a well balanced mix of both strategies.
To close, you must reach three goals:
• Play all the cards in your hand and 'get the pot'.
• Realize a valid meld of at least 7 cards.
• Play again all your cards, discarding the last one (can not be a joker or a deuce).
